GBBO winner John Whaite lands new daytime show with Rosemary Shrager

By Shaun Kitchener

Great British Bake Off winner and Attitude favourite John Whaite is returning to TV alongside Rosemary Shrager for a major new daytime series in 2016.

ITV has commissioned new culinary format The Chopping Block from production house TwoFour, which is set to spawn 20 hour-long episodes combining elements of competition with reality.

The show will put pairs of budding kitchen geniuses under the microscope both at work and in their day-to-day lives, with Shrager and Whaite keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Rachel Innes-Lumsden, deputy director of programs for TwoFour, said in a statement: “Rosemary and John are the entertaining and authoritative hosts of a format that combines the competition of a cookery show with the immersion of a reality show.”

Whaite won the third series of Bake Off back in 2012, and has since become a resident chef on Lorraine. His two books, John Whaite Bakes and John Whaite Bakes At Home were released in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
