A duet between a hologram of the late singer and Christina Aguilera has been axed by the Whitney Houston Estate.

According to ET Online, the duet was planned to air on the US version of The Voice for the season 10 final.

But Pat Houston, the executor of Houston’s estate, issued a statement to ET explaining the decision to cancel the performance.

“We are so appreciative of the opportunity for the Whitney Houston hologram to appear on NBC’s The Voice with a talent pairing as extraordinary as Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston. We were looking to deliver a ground breaking duet performance for the fans of both artists.”

“Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic caliber, it must be perfect. Whitney’s legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection. After closely viewing the performance, we decided the hologram was not ready to air. We have much respect and appreciation for Christina, and she was absolutely fantastic.”

Aguilera had spoken to ET Online before but explained that she couldn’t reveal any information about the final, but she was “very excited about the finale” and “very exciting” things were going happen.

Luckily enough, for those desperate to see the Houston hologram, the performance leaked, Digital Spy reports.

The performance has Aguilera singing I Have Nothing before introducing Whitney Houston.

The pair then sing ‘I’m Every Woman’, and Whitney even has a change of costume through the performance via a little twirl.

While The Voice‘s performance was cancelled, the Houston hologram is still set to go on tour for an interactive show which Pat Houston says will be “a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history”.

Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera proved she has more than once voice after impersonating Houston, Madonna and Adele on Ellen this week.
