By Troy Nankervis

One could argue Ellen DeGeneres has overtaken Oprah’s seat as Queen of US daytime television, but perhaps unsatisfied the with reach of her kingdom, the comedy powerhouse has now her sights on the UK.

It has been announced that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will debut in the UK on Monday 18 January on ITV2, airing each afternoon from 1.45pm and showcasing the 57-year-old’s unique combination of comedy, celebrity and music guests alongside topical human-interest stories.

To date, the program has collected up 55 Daytime Emmys including nine for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show.

“After what feels like decades of campaigning I’m so excited that my show is on ITV2,” said DeGeneres.

“I can literally feel my crumpets tingling down in my cockles.”

Sharing the news via Twitter to her 52.4 million followers, she wrote: “We got Elley on the Telly! I’ll see you on @ITV2, UK.”

The happy news comes just weeks after British actor-turned chat show host James Corden used an appearance on the show to lauch a hilarious campaign to ‘Get Elly on the telly’ in the UK, completely with original song and dodgy-Spice Girl look-a-like back-up dancers – click here to watch it.

Ellen’s most recent guests has been the cast of Star Wars talking about their latest worldwide movie sensation, Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton and music’s loveable bad boy Justin Bieber.

Now in its 13th season, The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered in the US on September 8, 2003 and was the highest-rated freshman syndicated show of the 2003-2004 season.

Welcome back to our screens, Ellen. It’s been too long.
