Drag Race UK‘s River Medway has given us a very personal and nostalgic lip sync to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ to celebrate Pride.

The season three queen and member is taking part in Attitude’s Superdrag lipsync series, sponsored by Superdrug.

In the video, River intercuts footage of her lipsync with glimpses of her home setup and wall decor as well as home video footage from her childhood.

It makes for a lipsync that pays tribute to where she’s come from as well as to her mother, who tragically passed away with Covid-19 shortly before River entered the Drag Race UK workroom.

With lyrics like “there’s nothing wrong with loving who you are, she said because he made you perfect babe,” River almost sings the song to her younger self encouraging them with “so hold your head up girl and you’ll go far”.

This continues into the chorus with the ideas of being “on the right track” and “just love yourself and your set”. The footage also demonstrates that River was indeed “Born This Way” – that being fabulous.

As the song comes to a close we see everything River has achieved from her younger days including snapshots of her most iconic moments from Drag Race as well as the things that have inspired her along the way.

In the series, River is joined by her Drag Race UK season three sisters Scarlett Harlett and Charity Kase.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World and Drag Race Thailand‘s very own Pangina Heals is also taking part serving a flawless lip sync to the rousing anthem, ‘This Is Me’ and drag performer Danny Beard will also serve a deliciously wicked rendition of The Little Mermaid classic, ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’.

Superdrag Lip-sync, sponsored by Superdrug, is part of Attitude Pride at Home, which runs from 9-19 June at attitude.co.uk, youtube.com/attitudemag and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@attitudemag).

Attitude Pride at Home is to benefit the Attitude Magazine Foundation for LGBT causes.
