Disney announces ‘Frozen’ sequel

By Josh Haggis

Disney have announced that they are developing a sequel to Frozen.

Despite the success of Frozen, the company said last April that it had yet to discuss a sequel – and was instead focusing on the Broadway adaptation of the smash hit film.

Thankfully, that appears to have been just a ruse, as John Lasseter, the chief executive of Walt Disney Animation Studios, announced the existence of a follow-up to the 2013 animation classic this week during the company’s annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco, California.

Kristin Bell, who voiced the unapologetic Princess Anna in the original film and is expected to return for the sequel, confirmed the news on Twitter yesterday (March 12).

Frozen

‘s worldwide popularity saw it become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, and it also scooped the Best Animated Feature prize at the 2014 Oscars.

There is currently no release date set for Frozen 2.
