David Beckham launches Instagram account with shirtless bed selfie

David Beckham has kicked off his 40th birthday celebrations by joining Instagram.

And he clearly got some tips on how to win followers fast – check out his first post below.

The shirtless selfie direct from his bed was accompanied by a caption thanking fans for their birthday messages. Within a few hours, over 800,000 people had followed the account.

He wrote: “Good morning and hello! It’s great to finally be on Instagram, been a long time coming but I can’t wait to start sharing all my special moments with you. Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family x”

David and Victoria yesterday flew to Morocco where they will celebrate with family and friends.
