Chris Crocker has posted a new video defending Britney Spears – and it’s a lesson to us all in compassion, humility and personal growth.
The 33-year-old shot to fame in 2007 after posting a tearful, unrestrained YouTube clip (containing the famous line: “Leave Britney alone!”) defending the ‘Toxic’ singer at the height of her personal problems and consequent media hounding.
Despite attracting global ridicule, Chris had the last laugh when they sold the video as a non-fungible token for $41,000 this year to fund their transition. (Chris now identifies as transgender).

Following Britney’s blistering public testimony against her conservatorship in an LA court yesterday – which saw her liken her situation to “slavery” and “sex-trafficking” – long-term fan Chris once again took to the internet to share their thoughts on the pop icon.
This time around, however, Chris emphasised that this moment is not about them, but about Britney “finally being able to be heard.”
“I hope she gets that freedom”
“I’ve been getting a lot of people reaching out to me today wanting my thoughts on everything,” said Chris on their Instagram Stories earlier.
“I never know how to speak on anything because I don’t want it to be about me. This is about Britney and her finally being able to be free and finally being able to be heard.
“That is what is important. Not what I have to say. What Britney has to say. And I hope she gets that freedom and that happiness.”

Courts grant conservatorships for people unable to make their own decisions, such as those with dementia or other mental illnesses.
Britney’s father Jamie Spears has served as conservator of her estimated $60 million estate since 2008, following her widely-publicised breakdown in 2007.
Speaking to Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny about the conservatorship for 20 minutes by phone yesterday, Britney made the following allegations, among many others.
1 She claims her dad ‘loves’ controlling her
“The control he had over someone as powerful as me — he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%.”
2 She claims she has been blocked from marrying boyfriend Sam Aghari and having another child
“I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby, I have a (IUD) inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant. I wanted to take the (IUD) out so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children – any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me waaay more harm than good.”
3 Britney believes many conservatorships are abusive
“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive, and that we can sit here all day and say oh, conservatorships are here to help people. But ma’am, there is a thousand conservatorships that are abusive as well.”
4 She has been battling depression
“I’ve lied and told the whole world ‘I’m OK and I’m happy.’ It’s a lie. I thought I just maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy, because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
5 She wants out of the conservatorship ASAP
“I don’t feel like I can live a full life. I don’t owe them to go see a man I don’t know and share him my problems. I don’t even believe in therapy. I always think you take it to God. I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated.”
