Cheryl Cole has confirmed her return to The X Factor.

The Fight For This Love star shared an amusing picture of herself with fellow judge Simon Cowell on Instagram earlier tonight (March 10) – see right.

The accompanying caption read: “GUESS WHAT!!.. I’m baaaacccckkkkk!!!! #iMayActuallyRingHisNeck #XFactor2014 #leggooo”

Meanwhile, Cowell has since tweeted: “It’s official. Cheryl is back.”

He then joked: “Be careful what you wish for!” before adding: “Most importantly she is a brilliant judge of talent.”

Cole, 31, appeared as a judge on the original British version of The X Factor between 2008 and 2010 before leaving to join the US version. However, she was sacked before the American remake aired and later won a $1.8 million (£1.1m) settlement from the show’s producers.

Cowell has already announced he is returning to the judging panel of The X Factor UK this year after the US version was cancelled, which makes Cole the second judge to be confirmed.

Dannii Minogue has recently ruled out an immediate return to the British show, saying: “Definitely not coming back to The X Factor UK this year… but never say never [in the future].”

Louis Walsh, a judge since the show’s inception in 2004, has yet to speak out about his involvement this year.
