Britney confirms new album: ‘I want to do something artsy’

Britney Spears has confirmed that she has started working on her ninth studio album.
The singer spoke about her current project while promoting her new line of underwear, The Intimate Britney Spears, in New York City on Tuesday (September 9).
Asked if she was recording new music, she told Extra: “Very slowly, but progressively. I want to do something very ‘artsy fartsy’, something I’ve never done before. Even if it’s just taking a left lane and doing something more rock or rock pop. I just want do something really out there and different.”
She added that she would like to work with Katy Perry and Iggy Azalea on songs for her new album. The Birthday singer previously supplied backing vocals for Spears’s single Ooh La La.
“I think she’s just electric. Her hair is always a different colour. She’s so flamboyant. I love that energy. I think it’s contagious,” she said, when asked about Perry.
Spears will visit Europe later this month to launch her underwear line, calling in the UK, Poland, Denmark and Germany. She will then return to Las Vegas to continue with her Piece of Me shows.
