The BBC have announced the first ever non-celebrity edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

Titled The People’s Strictly, the spin-off will air as part of Red Nose Day 2015 and feature “inspirational but everyday heroes and heroines from society”.

The show will run for a total of four episodes on BBC One, and will be hosted by regular Strictly presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

“BBC One is the TV home of ballroom dancing, so where better to see deserving, real-life heroes and heroines experience the sparkling joy of Strictly – and all for such a great cause in Comic Relief,” said BBC One controller Charlotte Moore in a press release.

Another of this year’s competitors, gay Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, has spoken about the BBC’s decision to pair him with a female dancer, insisting there is no homophobia on the show – find out what he had to say here.
