Fame – and, apparently, being one of the few brave enough to use your own face picture on your Grindr profile – comes at unforeseen costs. Just ask Great British Bake Off star Michael Chakravarty.

The TV star has shared that he’s had his Grindr account suspended for impersonation… when he was merely posing as himself.

Imagine the frustration! We’d be throwing our phones against the wall.

“Cat Fisher”

Sharing a screenshot of the suspension report on social media this week, Michael simply wrote: “Sigh.”

The alert reads: “Account suspended. Imperonation. Your account has been reported as impersonating someome else. To contionue using Grindr, please verify your account.”

In a subsequent tweet, the 27-year-old added: “New drag queen name, Cat Fisher x.”

Michael competed on the tenth series of The Great British Bake Off in 2019, placing sixth.

In 2018, talk show host Andy Cohen revealed he has had the same problem with “a gay dating app”.

He said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: “There is a gay dating app that I’m on [presumably Grindr] that I keep getting kicked off of because they think I’m impersonating Andy Cohen, and they’re like, ‘Your photos don’t meet our guidelines,’ and I keep trying to [say]: ‘No! It is me!’”
