The actress had a brief cameo as the Voodoo Queen in the season eight finale

Angela Bassett wants to return as Marie Laveau in a future American Horror Story season.

For the eighth series in Ryan Murphy’s anthology series Apocalypse, fans were delighted to see the return of their favourite characters from the third season Coven including Cordelia Goode (Sarah Paulson) and Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga).

However, Murphy went a step further and delighted fans by reviving characters who died in the third season or future instalments of the franchise including Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts), Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe), Nan (Jamie Brewer), Misty Day (Lily Rabe) and Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy).

Although Jessica Lange reprised her role as Murder House character Constance Langdon, the iconic actress did not return as the former Supreme witch Fiona Goode.

Angela Bassett – who starred as Voodoo witch Marie Laveau in the third instalment – had a brief cameo in the eighth season finale and although it was extremely brief, fans could not contain their excitement.

Now, after the eighth season wrapped up airing, Murphy confirmed that the witches would all be returning in another series of the award-winning show, and while speaking to TooFab.com, Bassett revealed she would love to be back as the Voodoo Queen.

She said: “I heard that. It’s the year of the woman!

“It’s the year of the woman, female empowerment, I am woman hear me roar. They’re roaring, making noise, and making things happen.

“Standing strong and voices being appreciated and it’s just interesting. It’s very, very interesting and a lot of fun. Bring the witches back!”
