American Horror Story season 8 will be ‘Coven’ and ‘Murder House’ crossover

Wear something black, bitches.

American Horror Story viewers should start getting excited, because one of the show’s most eagerly-anticipated crossovers is coming this season.

Series creator Ryan Murphy sent fans into a frenzy on Thursday (June 14) after revealing that season 8 of the horror anthology series is set to crossover with 2011’s Murder House and 2013’s Coven

The producer wrote on Twitter: “The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year…because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER”

The inaugural season of American Horror Story, later titled Murder House, followed a family who moved into a haunted house in Los Angeles, while third season Coven followed the murderous escapades of a group of witches in New Orleans.

Murphy first teased the collision of worlds last year, but had indicated as recently as January that it would not happen until season 9 at the earliest.

While it’s not known which characters from Murder House and Coven may appear in season 8, actors Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, who appeared in both seasons, are known to be returning to the show this year.

The theme for season 8 remains tightly under wraps, but we do know that it’s set in the near future and will feature the legendary Dame Joan Collins in a “glamourous” role (like we’d expect anything less).

“It’s a very high concept”, Murphy teased in an interview with Entertainment Weekly this week.

“It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode 5.”

American Horror Story season 8 is expected to premiere in the US on FX and in the UK on Fox this autumn.
