American Horror Story has been renewed up to season 13 as Sarah Paulson reveals her return to the franchise.

The long-running series ended its ninth season back in October, and1984 was the shortest yet and received mixed reviews.

Although the ninth season saw many regular AHS stars returning for the latest outing – including Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd – it marked the first time that Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters both had not featured in any episodes the entire series – and they were both greatly missed.

But now, as FX confirmed the news that Ryan Murphy’s Emmy Award-winning anthology series has been renewed up to season 13, Paulson has also revealed she will be returning for the tenth season.

Speaking to Deadline, the actress said: “I did ask Ryan if the question was asked to me, could I say that I was coming back, and he said ‘yes’ you could say.

“So, yes I will be back on American Horror Story.”

Although Paulson has no idea what character she will be playing or what theme, she ‘hopes’ she will be a series regular – and so do we!

Confirming the news of the renewed franchise, president of FX John Landgraf said: “Ryan [Murphy] and Brad [Falchuk] are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series.

“We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.

AHS has showcased a wealth of award winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story.”

Last year, Murphy teased he will be ‘reuniting fan-favourite actors’ for American Horror Story season 10 and now with Paulson’s confirmation, we are rooting for Peters, Jessica Lange and favourites of ours Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett to also be making a return to the franchise.
