Dolly Parton has cancelled her Las Vegas residency due to ongoing health issues, but has shared a positive update.

Parton, 80, was originally scheduled for a six-date run at The Colosseum Theatre at Caesars Palace from December 2025 to September 2026, but postponed the shows in September due to “health challenges”.

The acclaimed country singer is still recovering, citing medication that has caused dizzy spells.

“I have some good news and a little bad news” – Dolly Parton giving an update on her health

Announcing the news on social media yesterday (4 May), Parton appeared in good spirits despite ongoing health concerns.

“Well hey there, it’s Dolly, and I am here to give you an update on a few things going on in my life,” said the 11-time Grammy Award winner.

“First, it’s concerning my health, and I have some good news and a little bad news. But the good news is, I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day,” she announced.

“It’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage-performance level” – Parton cancelling her Las Vegas residency

“Now, the bad news is,” Parton continued. “It’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage-performance level, because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit swimmy headed, as my grandma used to say.

“Of course, I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on five-inch heels. And you know that I’m going to be wearing them. Not to mention all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big… uh, personality. Lord, that would make anybody swimmy headed.”

She apologised to fans who had bought tickets for her Las Vegas shows, but encouraged them to enjoy the night regardless and to look forward to future projects.

“I’m working hard” – Parton on her upcoming Boradway musical Dolly: A True Original Musical

At the time of announcing the postponement of Dolly: Live in Las Vegas until September 2026, Parton said she would continue working from her home in Nashville.

The ‘9 to 5’ singer later confirmed this in her recent update, clarifying: “I’m working hard on getting my museum and the hotel open in Nashville later this year.”

She also revealed that, despite her health challenges, she has been working on her upcoming Broadway musical, Dolly: A True Original Musical.

When is Parton’s Broadway musical coming out?

Set to explore Parton’s journey from her roots growing up in East Tennessee to the dazzling lights and rhinestones of Hollywood, audiences can expect to hear some of her greatest hits.

Directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, Parton said the New York production is expected to debut in “fall or early winter”.
