‘Will & Grace’ cast to reunite for US television special

By Troy Nankervis

It has been announced the former cast of award-winning sitcom Will & Grace will be taking part in a two-hour television special next month.

We were pretty chuffed yesterday at Attitude HQ to learn the cast of Friends were reuniting for the same NBC television special, but to find out that Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are also going to be getting together again has really blown it out of the water.

Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes, Debra Messing and Megan Mullally will appear alongside cast members from a string of hit NBC shows including The Big Bang Theory and Mike and Molly, to honour of legendary TV director James Burrows, who is celebrating a landmark 1000 episodes across his career.

Hayes, who is to produce the one-off program, has called it the “special of specials”, reports Hollywood Life.

“We’ve confirmed all casts from all shows. On January 24 we tape, and it airs February 21,” he told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“It’s the reunion of all reunion shows. It’s going to be unlike anything everyone’s ever seen.”

Adding that Burrows was “the Steven Spielberg of TV, ” Hayes also spoke of his role as executive producer on his new comedy Crowded. “This show, I’ve witnessed the same feeling that I had on Will and Grace and Hot in Cleveland,” he said.

“And I’m not just saying that. The laughs are enormous and the writing is so smart and quick. I honestly believe if people give it a chance, it’s going to be a massive hit.”

Running across eight seasons from 1998 to 2006, Will & Grace was one of the most popular programs on US television at the time, collecting 16 Emmys and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards throughout the nine years that it was on air.
