A man acting as the face for Trump.Dating is a convicted paedophile.
The dating website, which promises to “make dating great again”, made headlines this week after it was revealed that it doesn’t allow gay members to join and asks users to define their marital status with options including happily or unhappily married.
Trump supporters Barrett Riddleberger and wife Jodi appear on the site’s homepage, welcoming visitors with “Make America Great Again” hats.
But Chicago news site WRAL reports that Riddleberger is actually a criminal who was convicted of “taking indecent liberties with a minor” after making a sex tape with a 15-year-old in 1995, when he was 25.
When contacted by WRAL on Monday (February 19), the 50-year-old said he wanted to discuss “the present, not the past.”
Then, when asked about the conviction, Riddleberger said: “I’ve already paid my debt for something I did 25 years ago.”
Riddleberger also claimed that the options allowing users to define themselves as happily or unhappily married were mistakes, which were being fixed by a programmer.
The options have since been fixed, and the Riddleberger and Jodi have also been removed from the homepage and replaced with another couple.
