New Tylenol advert updates the definition of the family
By Josh Haggis
A new advertising campaign by US brand Tylenol features a family lead by a lesbian couple.
The ‘What Matters Most’ campaign sees the brand attempting to update the traditional view of the family by including families from all different backgrounds and ethnicities.
The advert takes a look back at US artist Norman Rockwell’s ‘Freedom From Want’ painting – which sees a traditional American family coming together during Christmas – and puts a modern spin on the iconic piece.
“Our definition of family is now expanding, so it’s not this fixed picture of what the family is,” says Rockwell’s daughter in the clip.
