Listen to the moment a gay man came out live on the radio
By Sam Rigby
A man called into a London radio station on Sunday night (December 7) and opened up about his sexuality for the first time.
The caller, referred to only as Dominic, spoke to LBC Radio presenter Cristo Foufas about his feelings, before finally saying: “I am gay.”
He said: “Sometimes I have trouble thinking I do deserve love. I feel guilty within myself.”
He added that even doing something as simple as watching a film could make him feel “different to all of the rest” because of the focus on heterosexual relationships.
After discussing his sexuality with Foufas, who praised him for his bravery, he said: “Now that I’ve talked about it, it does make me feel a bit more positive about things.
“I think I’m a bit more accepting of myself to say that after this conversation. I think I might need to have a conversation with my friends now.”
Listeners took to social media to applaud Dominic for his courage, describing the phone call as “life affirming”.
