Honey Mahogany to host children’s story hour in U.S. public library
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Honey Mahogany is to host a children’s story hour in a U.S. public library to help battle issues on gender sensitivity, gay slur, and LGBT rights.
Honey Mahogany, who gained worldwide fame during season 5 of the hit show, has since gone on to release her debut EP ‘Honey Love’, star in HBO’s ‘Looking’, and starring in Star Trek Live. Now, it seems that she’s turning her talents to reading for children.
According to International Business Times, Honey will go to the event fully made up and dressed in true drag queen fashion, and will be reading stories to children. The activity will also feature face painting and cookies for guests.
Juliana Delgado Lopera of Radar Productions – who are organising the event, says: “It’s a kid’s world to be very imaginative. If children were allowed they would dress up every day. I don’t think they’re thinking about gender assumptions. They’re just seeing the drag queens as other people who are being imaginative.”
