‘HIV won’t stop me from dating’ – Trans people discuss their experiences in new online series

By Will Stroude

HIV awareness group Greater Than AIDS is releasing a new video series to bring to light how HIV impacts the trans community.

The series, called ‘Empowered Trans’, will share the experiences of trans women who have been affected by HIV to attempt to break down stigma and highlight the challenges that come with being HIV and transgender

Trans women are disproportionately affected by HIV compared to the wider population in the UK.

According to HIV information site Aids Map, “while no clinically significant interactions have been confirmed between feminising hormones and tenofovir/emtricitabine PrEP or most anti-retrovirals, many trans women worry about them and prioritise hormone use”.

Check out the promotional video for the series below. And you can view all of the videos on the group’s YouTube channel.
