Healthy Male Body Image promoted by American Eagle’s new underwear line

Just like Dove’s Real Women, American Eagle have launched a new campaign alongside their new underwear line.

The campaign with the tagline, “The real you is beautiful” is part of a recent shift in marketing towards men that favours more diverse images of masculinity.

#AerieMAN introduces four men in different videos promoting the underwear line where you’ll meet Doug, Devon, Kelvin and Matt. The videos feature the man talking about what makes them feel confident and how they hope to inspire others.

In the video one of the models, Doug, says “I think a lot of people don’t like the airbrushing and Photoshopping and they enjoy to see what’s real. It feels kind of empowering to know my flaws are going to be embraced.”

In Kelvin’s video he says “My hope is that sharing my un-retouched self, I will inspire others to be confident enough to share themselves.”

And Devon states that “There’s a lot of voice out there trying to tell you what it means to be a ‘real man.'”
