Florida’s unofficial LGBT+ capital has a rainbow-inspired police car.
Known for being one of the gay-friendliest cities in the country, Wilton Manors has gone the extra mile to be more inclusive towards the LGBT+ community with a brand-new, LGBT+ themed police car.
The Wilton Manors Police Department has redesigned one of the cars with a giant rainbow – the symbol of the LGBT+ community – on both sides with the rear window reading: “Policing with Pride”.
Gary Blocker, the city’s assistant police chief, said: “This is our way of supporting our Wilton Manors community that is welcoming to all.
“Each and every day, our agency policies with pride and passion and this car reinforces to our stakeholders that we are stronger together.”
The car will remain in the city throughout the year but isn’t the first South Florida patrol car to support the LGBT+ community.
Back in 2013, Miami Beach introduced a squad car with ‘POLICE’ written in the rainbow colours and is used at community events including the Miami Beach Pride festival.
