Attitude 101 is coming: 100 LGBTQ trailblazers and our Person of the Year

As we leave behind a difficult year, we're shining a spotlight on the members of our community changing the world right now.

By Will Stroude

Let’s be real: For most of us, 2020 has not been a year to savour, but amid the darkness, the hardships of the last 10 months have served as an important reminder that individual acts of strength and resilience can have profound collective power.

With that in mind, we’re looking firmly to the future for our our upcoming February issue, available digitally and to order in print from Wednesday 30 December and on newsstands from Thursday 31 December.

Introducing the first-ever Attitude 101, a brand new list shining a light on 100 LGBTQ trailblazers changing the world right now.

So just what is Attitude 101?

The Attitude 101 February issue will be available to download and to order in print from Wednesday 30 December and on newsstands from Thursday 31 December

First off, well spotted, it’s 101 rather than the traditional 100. Why? Because one-oh-one is all you need to know, and this being no ordinary listicle, it goes one further by naming Attitude’s Person of the Year as well as 100 LGBTQ game-changers from across a range of fields.

Attitude 101 consists of 10 categories, each containing 10 individuals, and importantly forgoes any kind of ranking; instead fixing the spotlight on our community’s collective achievements.

Some will be known to you, many others are unsung heroes in industries where acknowledgment and accolades for LGBTQ people are long-overdue.

The categories are as follows: Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics; Fashion and Design; Sport; Third Sector & Community; The Future (25 and Under), supported by Clifford Chance; Media and Broadcast; Financial & Legal; Arts & Entertainment.

Plus, a very special Person of the Year, whose achievements in 2020 have set a new precedent for what’s possible for LGBTQ people.

Announcing the inaugural Attitude 101 February issue, Editor-in-Chief Cliff Joannou says: “I know they say you shouldn’t wish your life away, but I’m not alone in saying it feels good to leave 2020 behind.

“So, for this issue we decided to look to the future; elevating and celebrating LGBTQ+ voices by shining a light on the unsung heroes who are making great strides for our community’s visibility just by being themselves.

“These are people who simply by walking into their place of work – be it an office, laboratory, studio, or other – show that sexuality or gender identity is no barrier to success.

“By making the choice to be out at work, each person becomes the best ambassador our community could ask for – a proudly authentic one.”

The Attitude 101 February issue arrives 30.12.20. Get ready…
