Stars of Ab Fab: The Movie share pictures from the film set

If you ever hear anyone complaining about the advent of social media, send them these pictures immediately. Just a month after we got our first official picture of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, its stars have pulled back the curtain on the film set…

Fox Searchlight Pictures and BBC Films are shooting on location in the UK and south of France for seven weeks, and we’ve been treated to a few glimpses of what’s in store thanks to legendary comedian Kathy Burke, who’s shared some adrenaline-inducing pictures of co-stars including Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley and Jerry Hall.

The movie adaptation of the classic BBC sitcom will reunite Lumley and Saunders with Julia Sawalha, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield and is set to include appearances Kathy Burke, Kelly Hoppen and Kate Moss.

The film’s official Twitter account also shared an exclusive snap to mark Whitfield’s landmark 90th birthday yesterday (November 11), which showed the veteran actress looking a fabulous as ever in a set of tennis whites.

Journalist Richard Arnold also gave us a glimpse of Saunders and Lumley in full Patsy and Edina mode earlier this week after wrapping his scenes on the film, and after seeing London’s booziest fashion and PR experts in back in action, we can officially confirm that our excitement levels are through the roof.

“Edina and Patsy are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots. But when they are blamed for a major incident at an uber fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi,” an official synopsis for the film reads.

“Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forevermore!”

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that producers have cast a over one hundred drag queens and “camp, fantastic queers” in the film – find out more here.
