Nigella to announce UK's Eurovision voting results

Nigella Lawson has confirmed she’ll be representing the UK at Eurovision this year, though sadly not in the way we might want.

The 55-year-old TV personality confirmed on Twitter this morning that she will read out the UK’s voting results during the annual singing contest’s grand final in Vienna this Saturday (May 22).

Responding to a user who said: “Saw some tweets from Eurovision Land. Are you reading the results for the UK next Saturday. Please confirm,” the celebrity chef showed exactly why she’s the woman for the job by replying in three different languages.

“Yes, it’s true”, she wrote, in English, French and German.

The UK will be represented this year by boy-gril duo Electro Velvet and their entry and their polarising entry Still in Love With You.

Former Eurovision presenter Sarah Cawood recently wrote a column for Attitude offering her thoughts on our chances this year, accusing the BBC of getting the selection process “woefully wrong”, while Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills has admitted that though the song has “split people”, other countries will fail to back it if the British public don’t do so themselves.

The two Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals will take place on May 19 and 21, followed by the grand final on Saturday May 23.
