Little Mix perform in front of giant Pride flag in Dubai, where homosexuality is illegal
Attitude's Honorary Gay Award winners continue to put their money where their mouth is.

Little Mix have once again proved they’re allies who are willing to put their money where their mouth is after performing in front of a giant rainbow flag in Dubai, where homosexuality is illegal.
The girl group, who received the Honourary Gay Award at the Attitude Awards last year for their outspoken support of LGBTQ equality, were performing in the city on Saturday night (23 March) when the colourful display appeared on the screen behind them as they sang their 2015 hit ‘Secret Love Song’, which has long been considered an LGBTQ anthem.
The show of solidarity flies in the face of Dubai’s draconian anti-gay laws, which punish consensual same-sex sexual relations with up to 10 years in prison. Muslims may also technically face the death penalty, though Amnesty International reports there is no evidence to suggest this has ever been been applied.

Speaking at the Attitude Awards last October, band member Jade Thirlwall revealed why she feels so passionately about championing LGBTQ causes.
The 26-year-old, who also serves as an ambassador for LGBTQ rights charity Stonewall, said: “If we’re going to benefit from the LGBT community and have a fanbase that are buying into our music, I think it’s our duty to educate ourselves and use our platform to raise awareness and create music that helps our fans feel like being exactly who they are is okay.
“There needs to be more artists and more allies out there in the industry to raise that flag.”
