Kylie announces Christmas album and special London show

By Nick Bond

After months of speculation, it’s official: Kylie Minogue will release her first ever Christmas album – appropriately titled Kylie Christmas – on November 13, with a one-off headlining show at Royal Albert Hall to follow the next month.

Featuring duets with Iggy Pop, James Corden and Ms Dannii Minogue (YAAAAS), the album mixes evergreen Christmas classics with a smattering of new songs.

Kylie has enlisted the help of her sister Dannii for the deluxe version of the album, recording the brand new song 100 Degrees – “set to be a disco Christmas classic”. James Corden features on a cover of Yazoo’s Only You, while Iggy Pop joins Kylie on the Waitresses festive hit, Christmas Wrapping while Frank Sinatra posthumously completes the roll call of collaborators, appearing on Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

Behind the scenes, Kylie’s longtime musical director Steve Anderson handles the lion’s share of the production duties, while Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has penned a track just for Kylie, Every Day’s Like Christmas.

While this is Minogue’s first Christmas album, she’s recorded many a festive song over the years – here she is singing Santa Baby:

It’s been a fruitful few months for Kylie fans – mere weeks ago she dropped a surprise three-track EP featuring duets with Sam Sparro, Shaggy and Giorgio Moroder, and before that she guested on Nervo’s gay anthem in the making The Other Boys with none other than gay BFF Jake Shears.
