Janelle Monae has opened up about her sexuality.

The singer has been the centre of a number of rumours about her sexuality following a string or songs and music videos celebrating bi and lesbian people, but in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, she confirmed the rumour.
She said: “Being a queer black woman in America.

“Someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherf****r.”

Initially the singer identified as bisexual but revealed when she learnt about pansexuality she found she related to that as well, but Monae admitted she’s open to learn more about who she is.

She said: “But then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.

“I’m open to learning more about who I am.”

In February, Monae released the bisexual anthem Make Me Feel and the feminist track Django Jane.

She then had lesbian sex in PYNK – a music video which features women touching tongues including Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson.

The two gaze at each other over a number of women’s after the singer accepted Thompson’s lollipop.
