Jake Shears: ‘I auditioned for ‘Looking”
By Nick Levine

Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears has revealed that he auditioned for a part in Looking.
The HBO show premiered in the UK on Sky Atlantic last month (January) and follows the lives of three gay men looking for love and professional contentment in San Francisco.
At one point, Shears was apparently in consideration to play Dom, a waiter on the verge of turning 40 who dreams of opening his own restaurant, a part which eventually went to actor Murray Bartlett (pictured right with co-star Jonathan Groff).
“I can’t act my way out of a paper bag. You’re not going to see me on any TV series,” Shears told Attitude recently. “I went for Looking and it’s the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done in my life. I went to the recall and I was like, ‘I can’t act, I’m sorry.’”
Shears, 35, added: “I think I was reading for Dom and I’m a bit too young for that character I think. I think I’m hopefully not quite there yet!”
Asked if he has got round to watching Looking yet, Shears replied: “I haven’t seen it yet, no. I’m still in the process of connecting cable in my new place so I haven’t got round to watching yet. I heard it’s awesome though, I’m really looking forward to seeing it.”
Jake Shears will join his friend Kylie Minogue as an advisor on The Voice this Saturday (March 1). Check back on attitude.co.uk later today for our full interview with Jake.
