Stacy Layne Matthews may be forced to sleep in her car after revealing she is again without stable housing.

The performer, who appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race season three in 2011, shared a video on Instagram explaining she has been told to leave her current living situation at her mum’s home.

“I’m just going to grab some stuff and hit it. I don’t know where I’m going,” Matthews said. She added that sleeping in her car is a possibility if she cannot find somewhere to stay.

The update follows a number of health challenges in recent years

Matthews has since posted donation links for followers, alongside offers of digital artwork and signed photographs in exchange for financial support. In a separate message, she said she is currently waiting on disability benefits while focusing on her health, writing: “I’m just trying to get my health in order so I can start back working.”

The update follows a number of health challenges in recent years. In 2024, Matthews was hospitalised with spinal stenosis, a condition affecting the spine that can cause pain and mobility issues.

She has also previously spoken about stepping back from performing due to both physical and mental health concerns.

Matthews has previously referenced financial instability alongside her health issues, including periods where she has relied on fan support.

During her time on RuPaul’s Drag Race, she became associated with the phrase “henny”, which went on to become part of the programme’s wider lexicon. She was eventually placed eighth.
