Britney Spears writes touching letter to gay fan

An American teenager who received a letter of encouragement from Britney Spears after coming out as gay has shared the heartfelt note the pop singer sent him.

Fifteen-year-old David Lecours watched Britney perform in Las Vegas last Friday (August 22) and went backstage to meet the singer after the gig ended.

During their meet-and-greet, the teenager says he handed Britney a handwritten letter detailing how she had helped him to come out and stay positive.

“I got to give her my letter that I put so much effort into. The letter explained how she helped me get through a real tough period in my life these past couple of months, and how I wanted to end it all but she made me be strong,” the fan recalled on Instagram.

As he left the meet-and-greet, Lecours went on to explain, one of Britney’s bodyguards chased him down to ask for his address.

“Britney’s bodyguard ran and stopped me and said Britney requested my address so she could respond because my letter meant so much to her,” LeCours said.

A week later, he received a personal letter in the post from Britney in which she thanked him for his story and wishing him “the best” for the future. Take a look at the letter below:
