Monét X Change wet herself – literally – in front of RuPaul on the Drag Race main stage

Guess now we know what the sponges were for...

By Will Stroude

The RuPaul’s Drag Race main stage can be an intimidating place to be, but where queens are usually only wetting themselves figuratively, Monét X Change has revealed she really did have an accident in front of the cast, crew and judges.

Branding the incident “the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me”, All Stars 4 winner recalls in the Attitude Awards issue the moment she wet herself while filming the long and often arduous deliberation scenes on the Drag Race main stage during season 10.

“I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about it, but… I f**king p*ssed myself on stage in front of RuPaul and everyone,” Monét tells Attitude in the issue, which is out now to download and to order globally.

“They were doing the deliberations and I’ve just legit peed on the stage.”

She adds: “I had to walk away and go change – they took me to the bathroom and put on one of those hand dryers, drying my crotch.”

Monét would go on to finish season 10 of Drag Race in sixth place, but the embarrassing main stage incident didn’t put her off returning for All Stars 4 just a year later, which she went on to win in a joint coronation with Trinity the Tuck.

Monét is currently treading the (hopefully dry) boards of the West End opposite fellow Drag Race star Courtney Act in new comedy show Death Drop.

The socially-distanced murder mystery show opens to the public this Wednesday (9 December) and runs until 17 January London’s iconic Garrick Theatre – and you can get your tickets here now.
