Studies reveal that lesbians earn significantly more money than straight women

By Samuel McManus

On the same day that the British government announced their plans to “shame” British companies in to ending the gender pay gap, studies are showing that a hidden “sexuality pay gap” also exists, and it’s working in the favour of the LGBT community.

A large-scale analysis of 29 studies has revealed that gay women earn an average of 9 percent more than straight women, reports Breitbart.

Analyst of the studies, Marieka Klawitter of the University of Washington, believes that the reasons behind the “sexuality pay gay” are probably similar to the those behind the gender pay gap, as gay women are much less likely to have children and take time out of their careers to raise a family, so are therefore more likely to face promotion in the workplace.

Nicky Morgan, the Education Secretary and equalities minister, said this week that the British government will be forcing large British companies to publish league tables of gender pay discrepancies, to “name and shame” them into ending the “discrimination”. However, there are currently no plans to “shame” the companies that are paying gay women more money than heterosexual women.
