A sports presenter who was called a ‘f*g’ on the official Twitter account for the radio station where he works has been fired after he sent the homophobic slur himself.

Seth Dunlap worked with WWL in New Orleans since 2011 and hosted the station’s weeknight sports show The Last Lap With Seth Dunlap.

Earlier this year, he penned a personal essay detailing his sexuality and fans of his show praised him for coming out.

However, a tweet from the station’s Twitter account used a homophobic slur but now it appears Dunlap was the one behind the tweet, the Time Picayune reported.

According to his attorney, Dunlap was dismissed from the job at the end of October.

In the same month, police obtained a search warrant for his phone records after news emerged that WWL Radio and its parent company, Entercom, claim the sports presenter sent the tweet himself in a bid to extort $1.8 million.
