The couple reportedly split last year but now they revealed they have married on Instagram

An openly gay professional strongman marries his boyfriend.

Rob Kearney – who goes by the World’s Strongest Gay on Instagram – made history by being the first openly gay competitor to take part in professional or international strongmen competitions back in 2014.

He announced his sexuality in a short Facebook post back in 2014 which read: “My #mcm goes to this guy, my boyfriend, Joey Aleixo!”

Since announcing his relationship, the couple – who had been together for four years – were known for posting cute photos together on social media and last year the couple posted pictures hinting they had split.

However, days after winning first place at the 2019 Arnold Pro Strongman contest, Kearney and Aleixo revealed they got married on Half Moon Bay Beach.

Writing on Instagram, Kearney said: “So we did a thing. We didn’t tell many people, but on March 17, 2019 @worlds_gayest_strongman and I got MARRIED!!

“To call this man my husband is a dream come true and he is and always will be my soulmate. I am so excited to start this new journey as a married couple and my heart has never been so full of love 💙💙 #husbands”

Aleixo also wrote: “March 17th, 2019 is a day that i will never forget. Today is the day that I OFFICIALLY MARRIED MY BEST-FRIEND!

“@worlds_strongest_gay you will always have my heart and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us.”
