The whole of October has been named Gay Pride Month in Taiwan.
Taiwan became the first ever place in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage last month and thousands of same-sex couples tied the knot following the landmark ruling.
And now, the first Pride parade since the legalisation is set to take place on October 26 and according to the Taiwan News, the whole of the month has been declared as Gay Pride Month.
More than 200,000 people are reportedly set to march during the parade – which will be in its 17th year and is the largest in Asia.
It’s reported the official theme of the parade is ‘Together, Make Taiwan Better’ and will mark the first ever Pride Month for the island.
An official website is set to be up and running this July.
June is known around the world as being the designated Gay Pride Month – and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
