Natalia Kills on X Factor controversy: ‘There are many sides to this story’

By Nick Bond

British pop singer Natalia Kills has released her most detailed public statement since she and husband Willy Moon were axed from the X Factor New Zealand judging panel following a disastrous live show on Sunday.

Kills and Moon drew universal condemnation when they savagely criticised contestant Joe Irvine, Kills labelling the the hopeful singer “artistically atrocious” and accusing him of copying her husband’s style.

Musical figures from Ed Sheeran to Lorde have since reached out to offer Irvine their support.

In a video recorded for MTV Australia, Kills today addressed the drama, saying there are “many sides” to the story and denying suggestions the whole thing had been pre-planned.

“I feel like everyone needs to put the idea of it being a manufactured conspiracy theory behind them, there’s really nothing to it,” she said.

“I love my husband with all of my heart, we’ll stick together no matter what.”

“There are many sides to this story and I am not about to get an entire industry in trouble that has been going on for years and years entertaining the masses, so thank you absolutely everyone for your support. Thank you to all of my fans. Thank you to my husband.

“I would like to wish Joe Irvine and my boys’ category all the best on the show.”

To quote Elton John: Sorry seems to be the hardest word.
