Recent Attitude cover star Greg Rutherford has won a gold medal in the final of the men’s long jump at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 27-year-old athlete leapt 8.20m with his third jump to clinch victory in the event earlier this evening (July 30), our friends at Sports Mole report.

Two South African athletes, Zarck Visser and Rushwahl Samaai, finished second and third respectively. Silver medallist Visser fell 8cm shy of Rutherford’s winning leap with a best jump of 8.12m.

Rutherford adds Commonwealth gold to the Olympic gold that he won at the London 2012 games, and the silver medal he won at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Rutherford posed for the cover of Attitude‘s Naked Issue earlier this year – click here for a sneak peek at his nude shoot.

Meanwhile, another recent Attitude cover star, Louis Smith, collected a gold medal in the men’s artistic gymnastics team event yesterday (July 29) – read more here.
