The Role

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join the Attitude team to manage the recently re-launched website attitude.co.uk. This is a high-profile role within the LGBT media and we are looking for a dedicated, experienced and hard-working individual who can work with a small team producing content, break news stories and create debate and who can work within strict deadlines, tight resources and have excellent fiscal control.

This position will also take responsibility for managing Attitude’s social media channels and the news agenda across these platforms. This position reports into the Editorial Director.

Attitude

Attitude is the leading gay men’s lifestyle and fashion magazine in the UK. Established 20 years ago, Attitude is recognised as one of the leading global gay media brands. The new website relaunched in January 2014 and has proven to be a great success in a small period of time.

The site was recently nominated by Stonewall as publication of the year. Long established in print, the magazine is at the forefront of magazine digital tablet editions with a superior custom-designed app. The website compliments these existing platforms with in excess of one million unique visitors per month. 2012 saw the launch of a series of new successful events under the brand masthead: The Attitude Awards and Attitude HOT 100 – the World’s Sexiest Man.

Duties and Responsibilities

– Produce new content and writing on subject matters of interest to the Attitude audience and as directed by the Editorial Director

– Source images and artwork

– Commission other writers, commentators and photographers where necessary and manage all aspects of site contributors

– Liaise with other members of the editorial team, advertising and technical support

– Maintain the site once it is live and ensure information is accurate

– Work with the commercial team to explore all opportunities are being explored

– Ensure that content is added to the website news channel on a regular basis throughout the day and that this promoted across social media platforms

– Work with the magazine editorial team to create content from the magazine to be featured on the website

– Manage a team of freelancers and editorial budget to ensure 7 day publishing including bank holidays

– Be responsible for all aspects of the website including advertising content

Required Knowledge and Experience

– Two years experience of working on a news or entertainment website

– Experience of using a content management website

– Familiar with all aspects of social media. Create interesting and exciting news stories and campaigns

– Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral

– Be able to undertake research using a variety of sources

– Be creative, able to alter their style of writing to reflect the Attitude audience across several platforms

– Be able to multi-task and prioritise work schedules

– Be computer literate and possess good keyboard skills

– Be able to create schedules  and agree deadlines

– Be able to follow style guidelines and client briefs
