American Football player asked if he ‘likes men’ during NFL scouting event
A NFL spokesperson called the exchange 'completely inappropriate'
Derrius Guice, a former college footballer and prospective NFL player, has claimed football scouts asked him inappropriate questions about his sexuality.
Guice claims he was asked if he liked men and whether his mother is a prostitute at the NFL Scouting Combine, a week-long showcasing event for college players which allow them to display their abilities in front of coaches, managers and scouts.
According to NewNowNext, Guise was invited to attend the Combine where he performed and attended different interviews.
Speaking to SiriusXM about the Combine, Guise said: “It was pretty crazy. Some people are really trying to get in your head and test your reaction.”
The athlete then revealed that he spoke to various teams at the Combine, who then asked him the inappropriate questions.
“I go in one room, and a team will ask me ‘do I like men,’ just to see my reaction. I go in another room, they’ll try and bring up one of my family members or something and tell me, ‘Hey, I heard your mum sells herself. How do you feel about that?'”
In a statement, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy described the exchange as “completely inappropriate”.
“The NFL and its clubs are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employers in a manner that is consistent with our commitment to diversity and inclusion, state and federal laws and the CBA.”
He then confimed that the NFL is “looking into the matter.”
