Attitude to offer financial services for the LGBTQ community

Investments, mortgages, pensions and life insurance by the community, for the community.

By Will Stroude

Attitude, the world’s biggest gay media brand, is to extend its portfolio from publishing, events and a charitable foundation into the provision of financial services for the LGBTQ community. And it’s looking to shake up the status quo.

With the launch of Attitude Financial Services – co-founded and chaired by the owner of Attitude magazine, Darren Styles OBE, together with financial specialists Ian Meekins and Dawn Gale – an extended family of advisers has come together that are members or allies of the LGBTQ community, awake to the unique needs of a group of consumers often poorly served by an industry that sees ‘different’ as unwanted.

As part of the Quilter financial planning network – a leading provider of advice and wealth management worldwide, managing over £100 billion of investments on behalf of more than 900,000 customers – Attitude Financial Services offers assistance to those who might have imagined financial services were for others in more ‘conventional’ relationship or ‘traditional’ family structures. Or on a different life path.

But says Darren Styles OBE: “The reality is that no matter who you are, who you love, who you might marry, the children you may have or the chosen family you want to protect – the need for sound, tailored advice around investments, mortgages, pensions and life insurance is universal and absolute.

“But you want to know, when sitting down to discuss the most intimate details of your life plan – around money, your partner, your home or your family – that you are among friends who understand and support love and diversity in every form.

“The Attitude family is uniquely positioned to do this – we are of, and at the heart of, a glorious community that embraces and holds dear the freedom to love and be loved. And why wouldn’t we want to celebrate and protect that?”
