RuPaul wins 8th consecutive Emmy for RuPaul’s Drag Race

Condragulations Mama Ru! The host of RuPaul’s Drag Race has won an eighth consecutive Emmy for fronting the drag reality program. The achievement also makes RuPaul the most decorated host in Emmy history.

Speaking at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday (7 January) RuPaul said: “I’m so proud to be a part of this medium, you invited me to be a part of this. You are my family,” as per Variety.

He also offered words of wisdom and hope to young people starting out in the entertainment industry. “I want to tell all these kids out here in the business, remember who you are. Do not give up. Stick with it, kiddo, and remember who you are.”

In claiming the award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program RuPaul beat out the hosts of Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk, and Jonathan Van Ness; Nailed It!‘s Nicole Byer; Top Chef‘s Padma Lakshmi; and Baking It‘s Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph.

Mama Ru is also the person of colour with the most wins in Emmy history. Condragulations again Mama Ru! Shantay you stay!

Elsewhere, Drag Race also won for Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Reality Or Competition Program for the season 15 Rusical episode. Queer Eye won for Outstanding Structured Reality Program and Keke Palmer for Outstanding Host For A Game Show for Password.
