The White Lotus star, Murray Bartlett, got his first Emmy nomination for his role in the HBO drama on Tuesday (12 July)

The Aussie actor, 51, was nominated in the Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category alongside his co-stars Jack lacy and Steve Zahn as well as Will Poulter (Dopesick) Seth Rogen (Pam & Tommy) Peter Sarsgaard (Dopesick), and Michael Stuhlbarg (Dopesick)

A particularly memorable scene in the hotel-based drama saw Murray’s character Armond caught rimming Lukas Gage’s character Dillon.

Addressing the scene in a previous interview with Digital Spy, former Attitude cover star Murray said: “It felt right in terms of the shock value. And it felt great in terms of: ‘Let’s show something that is a natural part of sex for a lot of queer people.'”

White Lotus was also nominated in the Outstanding Limited Series category. Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Natasha Rothwell, and Sydney Sweeney were all nominated in the Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category for their work on the show.

Speaking to Variety on his nomination Murray said he was feeling, “Just a little ecstatic.”

On the love the show has got – with 20 nominations in total – Murray said it felt right.

“That it’s not one of us or two of us singled out because it’s such an ensemble piece, including the musicians who worked on the show and Mike [White] of course. So it feels like, if any of us are going to be nominated, all of us should be nominated. And it seems like almost all of us are. So it’s thrilling and fantastic.”

And despite his character’s death Murray revealed there has been talk of a possible return.

“You never know. Mike had joked to me about another season where we go back in time. I think that was a joke, but I like to think that it wasn’t, so we’ll see.”
