The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus: ‘I’d have sex with every single character’

By Will Stroude

The sexuality of The Walking Dead’s resident cross-bow wielding badass Daryl Dixon has been the subject of intense fan speculation over the last few seasons of the smash US zombie drama show, and actor Norman Reedus has continued to insist that he’s up for anything when it comes to his character’s romantic escapades.

The 46-year-old actor – who previously poked fun at the speculation by grabbing co-star Andrew Lincoln’s bum during a recent shoot for Entertainment Weekly – has admitted that if it were down to him, he’d have sex with “every single character” on the show regardless of their gender.

“I’m not opposed to it and I’m not running towards it,” Reedus told Digital Spy when asked whether the new season would see Daryl get a love interest.

“There was a hint [that he might be gay] and I was down with that too. Whatever they give me, I’m gonna run with and I’m gonna try and kick ass with.”

Discussing conflict between fans who wan to see Darryl end up with various different characters, Reedus said: “Oh I know, there’s a war out there! And people get mad at me, they get legit mad at me. If I say something in an interview that sounds like I’m not respecting a relationship with one of the cast members, I personally get attacked for it.

“I don’t get to pick these things, or else I would’ve had sex with every single character on this show already!”

Meanwhile, viewers are set to see a gay favourite character from the comics join the smash-hit TV adaptation when it returns to screens next month – with a rather dishy British star taking on the role.

The show has introduced a number of LGBT characters over the course of its last two seasons, including Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) – though the show’s first kiss between two men last year drew a sadly predictable anti-gay backlash.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on October 11. The sixth season will premiere in the UK on October 12 on FOX.
