Simon Cowell to ‘sack Louis Walsh from The X Factor’

By Ryan Love

Louis Walsh will not return to The X Factor this year, according to new reports.

The Sun claims that Simon Cowell has finally decided not to bring the Irish manager back for his twelfth series.

“Simon spoke to Louis and told him that it’s 95 per cent certain that he’ll be ‘stood down’ this year,” a source told the newspaper. “They are close friends so Simon wanted to do this the right way.

“Viewers had become sick of Louis’s constant use of tired clichés and the same old jokes. He’d been doing it for 11 years and it seemed like he was just going through the motions.”

Walsh himself hinted that his time as a judge was over last month, telling Irish TV that he felt he had “neglected” his day job as a manager.

Louis said: “I’ve done 11 seasons. That’s a long time on television. I think they’re going to change it, go for a few new faces.”

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is among those who have been tipped to take on a judging role, with Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini both expected to return.
