Robyn releases her first solo single in eight years ‘Missing U’ – LISTEN
The queen of heartbreak-pop is finally back - and with a banger to boot.

Well, gay Christmas has well and truly come early this year.
After eight long years and several experimental outings with long-time collaborators Röyksopp and La Bagatelle Magique, Robyn is back with a brand new solo single that sees the Swedish pop queen return to what she does best: namely, making us all want to throw our hands in in the air under a strobe light while ugly crying.
After leaking early last week, ‘Missing U’ made its official premiere on Annie Mac’s BBc Radio 1 show on Wednesday night (1 August), propelling Robyn back into the mainstream for the first time since 2010’s Body Talk album, which spawned athemic heartbreak hits such as ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ and ‘Dancing On My Own’.
Written and produced by Robyn in collaboration with Metronomy’s Joseph Mount and Klas Åhlund – who produced much of Body Talk as well as her 2005 self-titled album – ‘Missing U’ builds over a pulsating trance beat as the Scandi singer reflects on the “empty space” left behind a former lover.
“When I wrote this album, I was quite tired of myself writing sad love songs… but then I did anyway,” Robyn admitted to Mac ahead of the song’s first global radio play.
In a seprate short flm released to accompany the single’s release, the 39-year-old star explained: “‘Missing U’ is a song about this trippy thing that happens when people disappear.
“It’s like they become even more clear and it’s like you see them everywhere.
“And (it’s) also maybe a little bit of a message to my fans, that I’ve missed them. So I kind of think singing back to them is important.”
