Queer as Folk star hopes Brian and Justin never got back together

By Samuel McManus

Queer As Folk

star Randy Harrison has been reminiscing on the days of filming the show, discussing what it would be like if the show was re-booted today, and what he thinks became of his character Justin’s stormy relationship with Brian (Gale Harold).

Speaking to Daily Xtra, Harrison, revealed that the cast are “all game” for the American version of the show to make a comeback, but confessed it might not be the same now as it was then.

“We’re all old people now, the middle-aged Queer As Folk might not be the same but the cast all loves each other still and we’re all friends, we’re all open to it but I don’t know. Who knows?” he said.

The 38-year-old went on to speculate what would have become of Justin and Brian, despite the fact that the popular couple went their separate paths during the show’s 2005 finale.

“I would hope that they wouldn’t [have got back together], just for Justin’s sake,” he said. “I just feel like if you’re 17 and you start sleeping with a 30-year-old, your development’s going to be thwarted if you never go out on your own for a significant amount of time.”

He added: “I mean maybe they come back together, I don’t know. It’s a romantic fantasy, the whole show is fantasy so it’s hard to think about rationally entirely.”

Despite his reservations about the Brian and Justin’s relationship, Harrison went on to joke about the answer he always gives fans.

“For the fans, yeah, I hope they’re back together, married, and they have a family and are living in a cottage in the country.”
