"We could give them what they want, Jim..."

John Krasinski and Pete Davidson locked lips on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live – and almost headbutted each other in the process.

But be warned: for the skit around the kiss to make sense, you need to have seen the US version of The Office!

The gag in question revolved around audience members recognising John as Jim, his character from the hit comedy… and the need for SNL cast member Pete to stand in as Jim’s true love Pam.

“Is that Pam?”

Responding to audience members saying “kiss Pam!”, Pete tells John: “I think they really need for someone to be Pam.”

He then adds: “We could give them what they want, Jim…”

The Office, based on the original UK version by Ricky Gervais, ran for 201 episodes from 2005 to 2013. Pam was portrayed on the show by Jenna Fischer.

John – who has since directed and starred in hit film A Quiet Place – served as host of Saturday’s episode of SNL, while Machine Gun Kelly was the musical guest.

Pete joined the show in 2014. Last year, the comic starred in the semi-autobiographical drama film King of Staten Island
