Giorgio Moroder announces Britney Spears collab ‘Tom’s Diner’ as next single

By Will Stroude

Britney fans, rejoice! Giorgio Moroder has announced that his collaboration with the princess of pop is the next official single to be taken from his comeback album Déjà Vu, and it’s one of the album’s undeniable standouts.

The icy cover of Suzanna Vega’s 1984 hit Tom’s Diner is out to stream and download now, complete with lyric video and two brand new remixes by Leu Leu Land and Hibell.

The track follows the release of the Italian producer’s Kylie collab Right Here, Right Now and the album title track he recorded with Sia – and marks Britney’s first official single since Iggy Azalea duet Pretty Girls hit the UK Top 20 back in May.

We’ll be honest, we can’t see it happening, but we’re hoping and praying for a Britney-heavy music video to accompany the release. With the song’s sense of robotic detachment, lyrics about pouring milk and Brit rapidly returning to 2004 levels of career engagement, it would be a classic in the making.
